A note regarding the status of the construction and new restaurant;

Construction

Maybe you have thought that we have been sleeping all this time…? Not the case! A lot of work has been completed to shore up the existing infrastructure, build a new commercial kitchen, and put in 22 additional seats for the Green Bean!
What next? The Fun!  Lori and I are bringing back a little history to downtown Exeter. In the next few weeks you’ll see the metal façade removed and replaced with replica door/windows of the original Exeter Fire Station. The new firehouse façade will have 2 arches in total - both 11 feet tall and 10 feet wide.

Status of the new restaurant

In the newly renovated portion of the Firehouse, we will offer a full service, casual (come as you are) restaurant with full bar, and approximately fifty seats to begin with. Yet to be determined is the open space above – we’re thinking we’ll make the space either a function room? A lounge? Or additional seating…? It is a neat space and has some nice views of the town and the courtyard below.

Atmosphere

As noted above, Lori and I are creating a casual atmosphere that can accommodate either, for example, a couple on their first date, or the family of five  enjoying dinner together. By default, the building with its high ceilings, large windows, and exposed brick offers an environment that is welcoming.

Menu

It’s funny in that a lot of folks have come to us with suggestions and expectations, but when it comes down to execution, Lori and I are sticking with what we know best: Soups, Salads and Sandwiches… plus a few exciting additions!
The kitchen installed has all the equipment needed to create some simple, yet fresh and wonderful food. Hearty burgers and sandwiches made on the flattop served with hand cut fries – fresh salads that are made to order with grilled toast points, or one of our special flat bread pizzas made in the new pizza oven we have installed!

In addition to the full bar, we plan to offer 8 to 10 craft brews on tap. Maybe some of you know that my brother, Sean, owns a micro-brewery in California: Mammoth Mountain Brewery. Our restaurant will show its support of craft brews by not only offering a range of quality beer, but our large appetizer menu is designed to complement these quality beverages: Steamed Mussels, Arancini served with our special marinara, Meatloaf Sliders with Swiss Cheese and Horseradish Aioli, and of course, Chicken Wings! The list goes on, but you get the gist of where we’re going with the appetizers.

When

Look for us to be opening the new restaurant in mid-September. The plan is to bring the kitchen crew and manager from our Wentworth Marina location over to the new kitchen once the season ends.

Thank you

Last – Lori and I would like to say thank you; not only for your business, but also for your support throughout our 17 years in Exeter. This is a big new chapter for us in the coming months and your interest in the project and support is truly appreciated.

TL;DR (Too long; didn’t read) – Construction is ending soon with some serious bling effect. The new restaurant opens in mid-September with a casual atmosphere, menu, and good beer! Thank you!
